One of the Venetian painters of the second-rank. A good middle-class painter of little talent.
Vincenzo Catena’s major works are Madonna and Child with the Infant St. John the Baptist, c. 1506–1515 (London: National Gallery); St. Jerome in his Study, c. 1510 (London: National Gallery); Christ Bearing the Cross, c. 1520–1530 (Vienna: Liechtenstein Museum).
